HISTORY OF DENIZLI

Denizli was founded by Antiokos in the name of his wife and in the beginning it was named as Laodikeia. The name Denizli, which is used today, became a word of mouth, Denizli word, in time with Tonguzlu words. Persians, Alexander the Great, Roman and Byzantine Empires, Seljuks, Ottomans dominated the region. After the Turks captured the city, they moved the city to Kaleiçi site where the water is abundant.
